Why does nobody talk to circles? (Because there is no point!) scarf Large (black on white) rectangles on maroon background with blue border Silk 62 x 62cm // 24 ⅜” x 24 ⅜”
One silk scarf. Digital print on 100% light satin silk (54GSM), hand finished machine rolled hem. Designed by The Workshop of Matt Montini, printed in the UK
The Why does nobody talk to circles? (Because there is no point!) scarf is a graphic flag of our intentions. We came up with the design after studying simple geometric shapes and how they operate by themselves, or in a group. We looked to the history of the domino tile, Numeros children wood and plastic shape puzzles and also the game Connect by Ken Garland produced for GALT in 1969 for inspiration.
We made four different designs, each is a unique repeated pattern that, in our mind, displays an endless active loop of a shape within a shape within a shape, creating a labyrinth of presentations of colour and frame. The playful versatile pattern is printed on both sides so it is visible whichever way you wear it: around your neck, arm, or head; folded or smoothed flat. It’s bright colours are guaranteed to brighten even the dullest of days. Each scarf is perfectly rectangular in size and made from a fine light satin silk that is very soft, fluid and pleasant to touch. It’s hem is finished by hand.
A scarf is for everyone, regardless of age or gender. Montini, whatever time of day or whatever the weather was rarely found without a scarf on his neck, head or in his backpack. In 2004, during Shanghai Fashion Week, the French fashion designer Sonia Rykiel, one of Montini’s closest friends and supporters said about the concept of scarves: “It's a winding, a continuity, an infinity! I love things that are endless, I hate them to stop. It's like order and disorder: I rather love disorder and things that move, it's a state where one gets more things done!”.
We recommend you wear it with one of our embroidered caps for a total look.
